NHTSA releases vehicle safety app
Update: Now available for Android devices
Washington – A free mobile app released March 21 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides safety information on consumer vehicles.
App users can:
- Look up NHTSA’s crash test ratings for consumer vehicles by make and model
- Register existing vehicles for updates on documented safety issues and recalls, as well as submit complaints to NHTSA regarding any safety problems
- Find directions to the nearest child safety seat inspection station and receive advice on installing seats correctly
The app also connects users with information from the agency’s vehicle safety information website.
The app is available for certain iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad products. A version for Android devices is being developed, a NHTSA press release states.
Update: The Android app was released in January 2014.
